CALGARY - Rick Nashs bounce-back season continued Tuesday night, along with the New York Rangers winning streak.Nash scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season to lead the New York Rangers to a 5-2 victory over the Calgary Flames for their fourth-straight win.Nash is riding a career-best 11-game point streak (eight goals, six assists) that also ties him with Pittsburghs Evgeni Malkin for the longest point streak in the NHL this season. The Rangers are 8-3-0 during that streak to climb back into a playoff position in the Eastern Conference. They currently sit third in the Metropolitan Division. We need him to play the way he (Nash) is, said Rangers coach Alain Vigneault. Were no different than any other team in the league. You need your top players to be your top performers and thats what Rick is doing for us right now.Twenty goals in 29 games is a torrid start for Nash, who had just 26 goals in 65 games a year ago.Rick Nash is an elite hockey player. He was playing the same way last year. Unfortunately, he wasnt able to find the back of the net (as much) but this year hes been our best player, said linemate Derek Stephan, who had a goal and an assist.Nash opened the scoring at 11:22 of the first period on an unassisted goal. After a hard Calgary dump-in rimmed all the way around the end boards and out of the zone, Nash picked up the puck and moved in alone, beating Karri Ramo on a backhand-to-forehand move.Three minutes into the second period and while killing a penalty, Nash made it 3-0 when he was set up by Stepan on a two-on-one.The biggest thing is Stepans making great plays and Im getting lucky with pucks going around the boards. Its one of those things you dont want to think about too much when theyre going right, said Nash, who is tied for second in the NHL with three short-handed goals. He trails only Los Angeless Tyler Toffoli, who has four.Chris Kreider and Carl Hagelin also scored for New York (15-10-4). The Rangers won all three games in their swing through Western Canada.Jiri Hudler and Curtis Glencross with just 1:15 left in the game scored for Calgary (17-14-2). After a terrific start to the season, the Flames have lost six-straight games in regulation for the first time since Jan. 13-25, 2010.Its so easy when youre winning to go out there and make things happen when things are bouncing your way, said Flames centre Matt Stajan. The real test is when nothings going your way and youre in a funk like we are and this is where we have to step up.The losing streak coincided with the return of three key forwards from injured reserve, who had missed six weeks each. Stajan returned in the first game of the losing streak, while Mason Raymond and Joe Colborne returned shortly after. It hasnt been the easiest of weeks for us, said Stajan. Weve gone from being at the top of the mountain to being under water. We have to find a way here.A key sequence in the game came in the final minute of the first period with the Rangers up 1-0 and on the power play.Lance Bouma on a rare four-on-two rush and Josh Jooris on a dangerous two-on-one were both stopped by New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist. With time running out in the period, Mats Zucarello raced the puck up the ice and fired a long slapshot that Ramo handled easily. But with the puck lying at his feet, Ramo was expecting Kris Russell to clear it away and instead the Flames defenceman shoved it back towards Ramo and before the Flames goalie could cover it, Kreider stuck his stick in and knocked the puck into the net.Karri has to freeze it, Hartley said. He had the puck in front of him and the referee made the right call. That puck was loose so they came in and they whacked it in.The stunning goal at 19:52 resulted in a frustrated Ramo gesturing with his trapper in the direction of Russell. At that time, its probably one of our best penalty kills of the season. We generated three great scoring chances, they didnt get a sniff. They get that gift and that hurt us because right now, were fragile, said Hartley. After Stepan made it 4-0 at 11:15 of the second on a wrap-around, Hartley pulled Ramo, who had faced 13 shots. It was the second consecutive tough start for the 28-year-old, who falls to 8-5-1 this season. In his previous start, he gave up four goals on 19 shots in Buffalo.Lundqvist finished with 29 saves to improve to 13-7-3. Hes given up a total of only two goals in his last three starts.Notes: Derick Brassard (mumps) missed his second-straight game for New York... Also not dressed was John Moore. Matt Hunwick was back in the Rangers line-up after sitting out the last three games. ... Flames scratches included Brandon Bollig, who has sat out four of the last six games... Recent call-up Corey Potter also did not play. The veteran has yet to make his Flames debut... The Rangers improve to 96-1-1 record in their last 98 regular season games when scoring at least four goals. That dates back to Nov. 14, 2010. He managed to save par, and went on to put together his best opening round of the year. Calcavecchia and Wes Short Jr. Tashaun Gipson Jersey . The 49ers announced the deal Tuesday. San Francisco selected Lloyd in the fourth round of the 2003 draft. Lerentee McCray Jersey . -- The Atlanta Braves are facing the possibility of losing another pitcher for the season after general manager Frank Wren said Saturday that Cory Gearrin has a serious injury to his right elbow.SEATTLE - Eventually, the paths of Green Bay and Seattle were going to cross again. After they opened the 2014 NFL season in early September, it seemed inevitable that Aaron Rodgers would get a second chance to throw at Richard Sherman if he wanted to. That Russell Wilson would have to avoid Clay Matthews trying to chase him down. And that the Packers would get another opportunity to topple Seattle and be the elite of the NFC. They were the two best teams in the conference in the second half of the regular season. So its only fitting the Packers and Seahawks meet Sunday for the NFC championship and a trip to the Super Bowl. You can watch the game live on CTV with coverage starting at 2pm et/11am pt, or listen live on TSN Radio 1050 Toronto or TSN 1040 Vancouver. Its just the way it should be. It should be just like that right now, Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. Dont be mistaken by their recent prowess, this wasnt a smooth ride for either franchise. Whether it was Rodgers telling Packers fans to R-E-L-A-X early in the season, or Seattle dealing with the expectations of being a Super Bowl champion, along with the stunning midseason trade of Percy Harvin, this was no cruise. It was a process throughout the year, Green Bay linebacker Julius Peppers said. You get better and better each week. That is the main thing you want to do each week, get better than you were before, and I think we accomplished that over the season. Green Bay has added one more obstacle in the post-season: Rodgers left calf injury that has limited his mobility. But Rodgers showed in last weeks divisional-round win over Dallas he can manage just fine, throwing for 316 yards and three touchdowns in the 26-21 victory. Now All-Pro Rodgers gets his first shot at an NFC title since winning at Chicago in January 2011. A Super Bowl victory over Pittsburgh followed. Its a different team, Rodgers said. I think its less than 20 guys still here from that team. Its only four years ago. But we have confidence that we can win on the road. Heres what else to watch for as Seattle tries to become the first defending champion in a decade to reach consecutive Super Bowls: CALF WATCH: Rodgers injury is slowing him from scrambling before throwing, one of his strengths. His right arm is just fine. Rodgers got hurt during the Dec. 21 game against Tampa Bay. He still completed 74 per cent of his passes in his last three games, including the win over Dallas. Coach Mike McCarthy has had Rodgers operating out of shotgun formations to help limit his movement. Perhaps just as importantly for the Packers has been the solid work of the offensive line much of the year. All-Pro fullback John Kuhn, an excellent blocker, has also sseen more time of late.dddddddddddd Rodgers will need top-notch protection against Seattles tough defence. SILENT SHERM: Sherman, another All-Pro, was bored when Green Bay visited in the season opener. Through the entire game, Rodgers refused to throw at the cornerback, instead turning to the other side of the field. Sherman took Rodgers approach as a sign of respect. It also left him frustrated. He described it as being a 12 on a 1-10 scale. Everybodys like, Man, thats cool, nobody threw to your side, Sherman said. But if youre a player, you want to make plays in the game, you feel you can help your team, you want the ball coming your way more. Sherman doesnt expect it the same this time. Im not surprised either way, Sherman said. But I expect them to execute their game plan, whatever that may be. Not sure what theyre going to do. ATTITUDE: Linebackers Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers draw the headlines and make big plays on the Packers defence. Lineman Mike Daniels supplies the attitude. A mainstay up front, Daniels demeanour sets a stern tone on game day. Theyll need Daniels and fellow lineman Letroy Guion to slow down bullish running back Marshawn Lynch just enough to allow linebackers Matthews and Sam Barrington, and safety Morgan Burnett to try to finish off tackles up the middle. Daniels has 14 tackles and two sacks over his last four games. COMING OF AGE: When Green Bay visited in Week 1, centre Corey Linsley, wide receiver Davante Adams and tight end Richard Rodgers were all making their NFL debuts. Now theyre integral parts of the offence. Adams was the star of Green Bays win over Dallas last week with seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. You expect those guys to hit some sort of lull during the year, as the college season is usually 12 or 13 games, Aaron Rodgers said. After the preseason, youre looking at midway through the season, thats a normal college season for these guys, and you havent seen it. THANKS BUFFALO: Seattle ultimately owes thanks to Buffalo for Sundays title game being played at CenturyLink Field. The Bills victory over Green Bay in Week 15 was the difference in Seattle winning the tiebreaker for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Instead of Seattle being forced to deal with the freezing temperatures of Wisconsin, the Packers are about to enter the Seahawks cauldron of noise certain to be even more amped than when Green Bay visited to open the season. Any time we get the home games, especially the NFC championship at home, and we get to play in front of the 12s, its exciting, Seattle safety Kam Chancellor said of the teams fan base. Its exciting for us, exciting for them, and I think we deserve it and they deserve it, as well.
